Dear Parents and Scholars,

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I extend a warm welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Luther Vaughan Elementary! As we embark on this exciting journey, I am honored to step into my 7th year as principal of this wonderful school and my 27th year in the field of education. My journey has been filled with learning, growth, and a passion for shaping young minds. I am a proud graduate of Gaffney High School and Winthrop University, with a Master’s degree in Education from Southern Wesleyan University, a Master’s in School Administration and Leadership from Gardner-Webb University, and a doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching from Northcentral University. I feel blessed to share this life with my husband, Bryant, and our amazing son, Jeremiah.

To all our returning parents, students, and staff, I am thrilled to continue our journey together, building upon the strong foundation we have laid. For the newcomers, I extend a heartfelt welcome and eagerly anticipate getting to know each one of you. At Luther Vaughan Elementary, we firmly believe that the relationship between parents and the school is a crucial pillar for student success, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

This year, we are embracing the theme "From Little Lights to Big Stars: Shine, Learn, Create." This theme embodies our commitment to unlocking the brilliance within each of our scholars, guiding them to shine brightly in their academic, behavioral, and social endeavors. Our dedicated staff is fully committed to guiding, encouraging, and supporting every child's dreams and aspirations. We aim to cultivate critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration, and success in all our learners, empowering them to become valuable contributors to society.

As we strive for excellence, I wholeheartedly believe in the words of Rita Pierson: "Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be." At Luther Vaughan Elementary, we take these words to heart, embracing a growth mindset that encompasses not only academic excellence but also the social and emotional needs of our students.

Our united efforts as students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community will ensure that this school year is our most exciting and successful one yet. Together, we will build a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where our young learners can flourish and reach their fullest potential.
